Hello…TWO exciting new opportunities have just become available in our Hollard Central, Group Finance and Assurance (Tax) area. We are looking to recruit TWO Tax Interns.

The Tax Intern will be part of the Tax team that provides technical and compliance support and provides practical business solutions to the Hollard Group by applying the relevant tax laws, rules and regulations. The Tax Intern will be exposed to Corporate Income Tax, Value-Added Tax, etc. This exposure will benefit the candidate’s career as well as their personal development and in so doing add value to Hollard as an organisation.


  • Assist with the conducting of research on tax law, rules and regulations and define the applicable tax requirements in line with the Tax Act and all other applicable laws governing business, in particular, the insurance industry
  • Assist in ensuring that business complies with all applicable tax legislation and amendments to regulations
  • Assist in drafting tax advice and providing tax technical solutions to business
  • Assist the team with solving problems, helping business to solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution
  • Assist in examining financial reports and accounts to ensure the applicable taxes are properly calculated
  • Assist in the calculation of tax and preparation of tax notes for annual financial statements for year-end reporting
  • Assist with tax compliance – preparation and submission of tax returns to SARS, reviewing of assessments and payment of taxes
  • Assist with queries from tax authorities and ensuring the company is not unduly exposed to tax risks
  • Providing support to the Tax team as noted above
  • Adhoc tasks


  • No experience required
  • Theoretical knowledge of Corporate income tax, Value-Added Tax, Dividends tax, Employees tax is essential
  • Computer literate is a must have
  • Demonstrate flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks while exercising professional skepticism
  • Proactively seek guidance, clarification and feedback
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical and solution driven
  • Ability to work independently and work within a team
  • Ability to building good working relationships with business and SARS

Educational Requirements

  • BCom (Honours) Degree in Taxation
